Total
Station Coaching
Chances are, you’ve either uttered these words or heard
a colleague say: talent coaching doesn’t last. Two weeks
after the coach leaves the station, my anchors and reporters are
back to their old ways.
It’s easy to understand why. Take, for example, the coach
who tells an anchor team to pick up the pace by “jumping
the cue”, that is, coming in faster at the ends of each
other’s reads.
It’s a great technique. But if that coach doesn’t
also meet with producers (show timing changes), directors (punching
changes) and studio crew (cueing changes) – jumping the
cue will have your team jumping off a cliff before the end of
the A Block.
That’s why The Coaching Company’s curriculum can be
summed up in three words: Total Station Coaching. Our coaches
draw on more than 100 years of collective news production experience
to train not just on-air talent, but the producers, writers, directors,
TDs, videographers, editors, studio camera operators, and floor
directors who support them.
Total Station Coaching generates lasting improvements because
we coach your total station.
